The Sunflower Tote - PDF sewing pattern

The Sunflower shopping tote takes a casual shopping bag to the next level with stylish features that make it the perfect bag for shopping at your favourite local market. It is very roomy, making it ideal to use as an overnight bag or even a diaper bag!

The Sunflower tote has a main zippered closure keeping the contents of your bag secure.

The bag has 3 exterior pockets: 1 zippered pocket for valuables like phone and keys and 2 side gusset pockets perfect for a water bottle. There are an additional 4 pockets inside the bag: 3 large slip pockets and another zippered pocket.

The shoulder length straps are attached on the front and back of the bag to a set of O-rings which are securely attached to curved strap connectors. There are 4 corner accent pieces on each bottom corner. 

This bag does not require much hardware - the minimum requirement is (4) 1.5 O-rings. If you want to add more hardware detail, add a metal zipper end, rivets and even purse feet.

Exterior fabric: 

1 yard Exterior fabric 1 (44” W)
1/2 yard Exterior fabric 2/vinyl/cork (58” W)

Lining fabric:

1.5 yard Lining fabric (44” W)

Interfacing:

5-6 yards Fusible woven interfacing (20” wide)**
3/4 yard Fusible fleece (45” wide)
1/2 yard Firm Sew-in Stabilizer (Pellon Peltex 70/Stiff Stuff interfacing)

Notions and Supplies:

(2) 9” zipper or 11” zipper tape (#3, #4.5 or #5 will work)
(1) 18” zipper or 18” zipper tape (#3, #4.5 or #5 will work)
(4) 1.5” O-rings
16” of 1/2” wide elastic
84” of piping (optional)
Optional: rivets, metal zipper end, purse feet

** Quantity of fusible woven interfacing will vary depending on your fabric choices.
