The Delphinium Hobo bag in 2 sizes - PDF sewing pattern

The Delphinium Hobo bag is a shoulder bag that comes in 2 sizes: large and small. The small size is more a medium-sized bag - perfect for someone who likes to carry essentials plus a bit more. The large size is a very roomy bag and would make a perfect beach bag. 

There are tons of pockets in this bag! On the exterior, you have 2 zippered pockets on one side and 2 slip pockets on the other side. The interior has 2 additional slip pockets and 1 zippered pocket.

I kept the construction of this bag simple with a double magnetic snap closure.

The shoulder strap is attached to the bag by clipping onto a gate ring that is passed through 2 grommets at each end.

SUPPLIES:

Exterior fabric: 

1/2 yard Exterior fabric 1 (44” W)
1/4 yard Exterior fabric 2 or cork/vinyl (will vary 
depending on width of your cork/vinyl)

Lining fabric:

1.5 - 2 yards Lining fabric (44” W)

Interfacing:

4 - 5 yards Fusible woven interfacing (20” wide)
3/4 yd (Small) or 11/4 yd (Large) Fusible fleece (45” wide) 
8 1/2” W x 5” H (Small) OR 10” W x 5” H (Large) Peltex or firm sew-in interfacing

Notions and Supplies:

(4) 12mm - 14mm (1/2”) grommets 
(2) 1” gate rings (larger will also work)
(2) 1.5” swivels
(2) 18mm magnetic snaps
(1) 9” zipper (#3 dress zipper for interior pocket)
Small size:(2) 14” zipper (#4.5 or #5) *will be cut down during assembly
OR
28” total zipper tape (#4.5 or #5) (cut into (2) 14” zippers)
Large size:(2) 16” zippers (#4.5 or #5) *will be cut down during assembly
OR
32” total zipper tape (#4.5 or #5) (cut into (2) 16” zippers)

Please note: All fabric quantities are estimates and will vary a lot if your prints are directional. I recommend purchasing a bit of extra fabric. 

MEASUREMENTS: 
Small: 13” W x 11” H x 5.25” D
Large: 16” W x 14.25” H x 5.25” D 

SEWING EXPERIENCE: This bag is suitable for intermediate sewing skills. It is not a time consuming bag to make however first attempts will take longer. It will take the average person approximately 6 hours to make. Please read the entire pattern before starting.
