The Daisy Cross Body Bag - PDF Sewing pattern
The Daisy is a medium sized cross body bag with an optional modified dresden plate patchwork and an adjustable strap. The Daisy cross body bag's exterior panels have pleats along the bottom where they join a gusset. You can use a variety of fabrics for this bag - quilt weight cotton, faux leather, canvas, denim, etc. For the patchwork you can try a set of coordinating fabrics or fussy cut an interesting pattern from a single fabric. The options are endless!
On the inside of the bag, there are 2 slip pockets and 1 zippered pocket.SUPPLIES:
1 yard of exterior fabric (includes strap)
½ yard patchwork fabric (optional – and depends
on how much fussy cutting you will do)
3/4 yard of lining fabric
¼ yard to use as backing for your patchwork
2 yards of lightweight fusible interfacing
1 yard medium weight fusible OR sew-in
interfacing according to your preference (I have
used duck canvas for this bag)
scraps of duck canvas or Peltex to reinforce
magnetic snap installation
(2) 1.25 inch O-rings
(1) 1.25 inch rectangle slide
(1) 8-inch zipper
(1) 18 mm magnetic snap
MEASUREMENTS:Width at widest: 13 inches
Depth including pleats: 7 inches
Height: 9 inches
SEWING EXPERIENCE: This project should be suitable for confident beginners. It is not a difficult sewing project and should take approximately 2-3 hours without the patchwork. With the patchwork it is more time consuming - approx.4-5 hours depending on your sewing experience.
