The Iris Convertible Shoulder Bag - PDF Sewing Pattern

$8.00 CAD

By purchasing this listing you are not purchasing a finished bag. This is a PDF sewing pattern to make the bag pictured.

This convertible shoulder bag is a larger sized bag that has many pockets and makes a great everyday bag or even a medium sized diaper bag. You have the option of making one or two exterior pockets (or none if you prefer!) as well as an optional adjustable cross body strap other than the double shoulder straps. I have used faux leather vinyl for some parts of the bag but this can be substituted for a canvas/cotton fabric of your choosing.

The bag has pleats on both sides of the bag on either side of the pockets. You can have fun with the pockets by making them in the same fabric as the outside or using a contrasting fabric. Same for the pocket flap - dress it up with funky buttons or keep it plain!

For the interior of the bag, I give instructions for the zippered pocket and the 3 slip pockets, installation of a magnetic snap and creating an optional adjustable strap.

*** It is best to use a walking foot or roller foot to sew the vinyl parts of this bag. If you do not have a walking/roller foot, you can always sew with a layer of tissue paper between the foot of your machine and the vinyl and then carefully tear off when your seams have been sewn. However, I highly recommend a walking/roller foot!!

This bag uses sew-in interfacing to give the bag structure (I use duck canvas) as well as some fusible interfacing for lining components.

SEWING EXPERIENCE: This project is a bit more complex than some of my other patterns. It is best suited for an intermediate to advanced sewer who has previous bag making experience. Time to completion varies according to what optional features you decide to make but should be around 3 to 4 hours.
PLEASE NOTE: This pattern is in ENGLISH only.
